Luxury Tours

Luxury in India is not only a better hotel. It is a room where the Taj Mahal fills the window, a car that makes a five hour drive feel like two, and a guide who has you at Amber Fort at opening rather than at noon.

Our luxury tours are built one at a time around how you want to travel. Palace and heritage hotels in Rajasthan, a licensed private guide in every city, a chauffeur-driven sedan or premium SUV between cities, and domestic flights in place of long drives when the day is better spent somewhere other than a highway. The route is yours. Only the standard is fixed.

Q1. What makes a tour luxury rather than standard?

Four things change: the hotels move to the heritage, palace and five-star category, the vehicle becomes a chauffeur-driven sedan or premium SUV instead of a standard car, every city gets its own licensed private guide, and long road transfers can be replaced by domestic flights. The sightseeing may look similar on paper; the way you move through it does not.

Palace and heritage properties where they exist, and established five-star hotels where they do not. In Agra that means a hotel with a direct view of the Taj Mahal, in Udaipur a property on Lake Pichola, in Jaipur and Jodhpur a converted palace. Specific hotels are confirmed at the time of booking, subject to availability for your dates.

A chauffeur-driven sedan or premium SUV with a professional driver, bottled water and Wi-Fi where coverage allows. For larger groups we use a premium tempo traveller. The exact model is confirmed in writing before departure so there are no surprises at the airport.

Yes. India’s luxury trains, including the Palace on Wheels and the Maharajas’ Express, run on fixed seasonal schedules and can be built into a longer itinerary. These need to be booked well in advance because departures are limited, so tell us early if a train section matters to you.

Eight to ten days covers Delhi, Agra and two Rajasthan cities without rushing, which is the length most travelers choose. Twelve to fourteen days lets you add Udaipur, Jaisalmer or a wildlife lodge and still keep a slow pace. Anything under six days means more time moving than staying.

October through March. Daytime highs are comfortable, the light is good for photographs, and the palace hotels are at their best. This is also peak season, so the properties that matter book out months ahead, particularly over Christmas and New Year.

Yes, a licensed English-speaking guide in each city, not one guide stretched across the whole route. Local guides know the opening times, the quieter entrances and the order to see things in, which is most of what separates a good day from a long one.

Private only. Your own vehicle, driver and guides, no fixed departure dates and no strangers. The itinerary is written for your group and can be changed while you are on the road.

Yes, and on several routes we recommend it. Udaipur to Jaipur is nearly seven hours by road and just over an hour in the air. We book the flights, handle the transfers at both ends and keep the same standard of car waiting for you on arrival.

Yes. A private dinner on a hotel terrace, a candlelit table by the water in Udaipur, flowers and a cake in the room on arrival, or a photographer for the morning at the Taj Mahal. Tell us what the occasion is when you enquire and we will build it in quietly rather than making a production of it.

Yes. US passport holders need an Indian visa, and most travelers use the Indian e-Visa, which is applied for online before departure. Apply at least a week ahead and carry a printed copy of the approval with your passport.
